Da Vinci's InquestLast updated 28 May, 2006
Premise: Set in Vancouver, it follows various cases of both the Vancouver coroner (Dominic Da Vinci) and the Vancouver police department. While some cases are resolved in an episode, many span weeks or even seasons. Current status: Now Season 5. Sundays at 9:00 on CBC. CommentarySeason 4 (2001—02) Season 4Combining "case du jour" with plot lines that gradually onfold all season long, this is a steady, solid program that definitely rewards regular viewing. The linguistic style of all the characters (Da Vinci-speak) can be a little off-putting, but the regulars, at least, have settled into it, allowing one to focus on the winding stories. Season 5 (mid-point)I was pretty frustrated that the “bad cop” arc didn't get resolved last year, but it certainly is the focus this season. The program has further been shaken by switching around the police partnerships (Mick is now working with Angela, while Leo has been paired with the promoted Rose), and having Dominic seriously look into running for Police Chief. I also like that Mick is still dealing with the shooting, even though he wasn't really responsible for it. Very Canadian. CastStars Nicholas Campbell as Dominic Da Vinci Co-stars Suleka Mathew as Sunny Ramen; Sarah-Jane Redmond as Sheila Kurtz; Donnelly Rhodes as Leo Shannon; Venus Terzo as Angela Kosmo; Ian Tracy as Mick Leary; Alex Diakun as Chick Savoy; Kim Hawthorne as Rose Williams; Sarah Strange as Helen; and Gerard Plunkett as Bob Kelly.
