Sex and the CityLast updated 28 May, 2006
Premise: Follows the love lives of four single women in Manhattan. Current status: No new episodes, but reruns (both censored and uncensored) are still being broadcast. Also available on DVD. CommentarySeason 3 (2000) Season 3Many women say they identify with these four single women from Manhattan. I can't honestly say that I do, though, but I'm hooked on this show anyway. I'll even watch the reruns, though I'm looking forward to the new episodes in June. Season 4Miranda's pregnant, Charlotte is married, Carrie is engaged... Has this show jumped the shark? I don't think so, personally; they'll just have new subjects and people to obsess over. But with Manhattan practically serving as a character in this series, I am curious to see what post-Sept. 11 effects will be reflected in the series when it returns in January. Season 6Well, it's coming to the end of its run, and I realize that I haven't missed an episode. Since it takes a bit of effort to watch this show (new ones appear sporadically through the year, and it's on late, so I either have to stay up or set the VCR), that must mean I like it. Certainly this season I've been enjoying Samantha's relationship with the stunningly beautiful Smith. Of course, having been burned in past “real” relationships, she's refusing to admit that she actually likes Smith (she's so Brian Kinney), but Smith is refusing to be deterred (he's so Justin). I hope these two crazy kids work it out. Then there's Charlotte's relationship with Harry—the weird Jewish conversion, the ugly break-up, the touching reunion, and the hilarious wedding. She's never been my favourite character, but this has been an interesting arc for her. Miranda and Steve... Now that's looking promising again, isn't it? Carrie floundered with the insecure Berger, and I guess she's going to be launching into something the artist Aleksandr, played by Mikhail Barishnikov. I have to say that I saw zero chemistry between them in their first episode together. I didn't particularly like Aleksandr at all. I wonder if that will change. New episodes in February... CastStars Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw Co-stars Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones; Kristin Davis as Charlotte York; and Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes.
