How to Be a Canadian (Even if You Already Are One)

This book had to be giggling compulsively at times, which is exactly what a humour book is supposed to do, after all. It also seemed to strike at certain truths not often expressed, such as the absurdity of Canadian anti-Americanism being based on their ignorance of things Canadian. (But can you name the premier of PEI?)

Sample quotes:

The natural habitat of the Canadian is the shopping mall. Canadians are timid, but will respond if approached. The best way, we find, is to offer them a handful of seeds while speaking to them in a soft but firm voice.

The other famous Islander is Stompin' Tom Connors. He sort of sings and he sort stamps his foot. In Canada, this makes him a legend.

Why not, eh? This is the quintessential Canadian question. “Dale asked me to marry him, and I figgered, Why not, eh?”
